Wiki-Leaks Julian Assange gets a contract with Russia Today for a ten episode programme to start in March this year. To be called “The World Tomorrow”. The show is described as Mr Assange in discussion with leading politicians, thinkers and revolutionary figures in the world today.
Straight away many of the bodies and journals that backed Mr Assange over many of the wiki-leaks submissions to the internet cried hypocrisy. No doubt they felt a degree of self satisfaction at a chance to land a blow on the man who had kept beating them to the headlines for two years.
This no doubt is based on the on the fact that RT (Russia Today) is considered an organ of the Russian state. I watch it occasionally and read the English language version of Pravda. I know what to expect, just as I would if I picked up a copy of any other countries government biased journal, and that also applies to radio and TV stations.
The Russian states record on freedom in the media is less than impressive. So it may be a foolish or brave move by Mr Assange. I see no chance of any wiki-leaks regarding the Russian government or its close friends. Of course it will depend on the guests and what is broadcast and what is edited out. Even if the guests lined up for Mr Assange are largely anti-western or anti-democratic what’s to say they don’t hold insights to the behaviour of governments and powerful individuals in the past the sort of people found in “Forbes or Times” lists of the “rich, famous and powerful” even infamous.
The shows are being recorded in the mansion where Mr Assange has been under house arrest for the over 400 days, whilst awaiting his appeal hearing in the UK supreme court against extradition to Sweden to face rape charges.

The show has still not aired yet and when I looked today there were a number of comments including my own about this. One particular comment did take my eye someone laid the seed that RT had been got to and abandoned the show.
I hope not as I said above it could prove interesting both the choice of guests and potential material that could be covered.

I hope this will be the final update on this article as the programme is scheduled to begin tomorrow the 17/04/2012. Russia Today caries an excert from an interview with Mr Assange they will be broadcasting alter today and it has been put on you tube to. http://rt.com/news/assange-world-tomorrow-premier-date-time-934/ . I expect the full interview will be in RT’s interview slot on the regular RT schedule.
Russia Today is making out it has been teasing us with this series I think it maybe they announced the end of March then found they could not deliver. So according to RT the first show is tomorrow 15:30 Moscow time, 21:30 Sydney Australia time, 11:30 GMT and 07;30 eastern seaboard time.
Much is made in the trailer of anniversaries 500 days of house arrest without charge and the same number of days since a block on Wiki-Leaks funding. As you would expect from RT’s style the first guest is not named so to drum up more expectation.However, I expect this will be part of the shows format with perhaps each show ending with a summary of the following weeks guest areas of knowledge but not actually naming them I could be wrong.
